We are super excited to share with you some of the exciting challenges that our children have been taking part in this half term. This half term has been about forming a safe environment for the children to learn in, to accept new and different staff and start to build friendships with each other.

We have been working extremely hard on our participation and resilience in our learning and interactions with others. We had several discussions about rewilding the area, and the general feel was that we would like to build suitable houses for the birds. When planning our bird boxes our metacognition skills were really tested. Some of us quickly learnt the importance of a plan and how accurate measurements were the key when transferring our prototypes to wood.

Every day we complete Lego therapy as a group. Taking on different roles, builder, supplier, instructor and director. This is helping with our speaking and listening skills. The daily challenges involve different thinkings skills that we have to complete as a team. This might be a quiz, a game or problem solving activity.

We have made use of the campfire and made great bread on sticks which we ate hot and filled with yummy fillings.

We have had to budget to buy ingredients and organise resources for our projects.
